A Probe Into the Popularity of Enrique Peña Nieto

One of the front runners for Mexico's elections this 2012 is the rather dashing Enrique Peña Nieto. He is the man who most Mexicans believe will be their next President. Nieto presents a formidable, nail-biting challenge to the other presidentiables.

Although the formal campaigning has yet to begin, Nieto seems to already be on the up and up with the voting population. One of his specialtiies is the art of public speaking, which obviously helps his cause. It has been remarked that the man even requires double the usual amount of time to pass through a group of persons because people keep trying to hold on to him.

Televisa is often named as a conspirator in Nieto's seemingly unassailable popularity. It is alleged that the network was in cahoots with him to promote his achievements in the past. Critics and opponents claim that the alleged deal is the reason for Televisa's support of the man.

It is worth noting that people only began talking about this supposed deal following Nieto's admission of a relationship with Ms. Rivera of Televisa. The actress is known for her prolific career in Mexican soaps and is inarguably among the most recognizable faces on Mexican TV. Before Rivera, Nieto was in a marriage with Monica Pretelini, who died.

Pretelini was able to give Nieto three children prior to her passing. On the second year of his governorship of the state of Mexico, his wife Pretelini died due to a seizure-induced arrhythmia and respiratory arrest. Mexico's social scene was suddenly abuzz with interest in Nieto's doings following this unfortunate incident, given that Nieto had suddenly become one of the most desirable (and available) men in the country.

His popularity among women is just part of Enrique Peña Nieto's emotional appeal to the public. Nieto is also famous for his "compromisos", oaths to answer the needs of constituents. It is in relation to this that his concern for infrastructure has been noted.

Many of the public work projects from the politician, upon completion, became press field days as Nieto did his best to promote his accomplishments, like any good politician. It is little wonder that Nieto's repute is that of a person who can stay true to his word. Nonetheless, some claim that Nieto has spent more on organizing the social events promoting his achievements than on keeping the promises themselves.

An incident at a book fair not too long ago also drew critiques for the politician. Nieto was unable to state the titles and writers of tomes that he claimed were the ones he liked best. Nieto was noted to have said that he usually forgot these details, being more interested in the tome's contents.

His mistakes unleashed humorous, sometimes harsh, remarks on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. When one of his daughters was asked about it, she delivered a rather emotional response that may not have been wise. The incident remains, even now, one of the less than wonderful points in Nieto's record, for all that he acknowledges it himself.

Enrique Peña Nieto has noted that his opponents tend to take his words out of context. That aside, he remains the people's favorite for the elections. Surveys and polls are indicating that he may well be the next Mexican president.
